I have a Dell Inspiron 6000
- Celeron M
- 512 Mb RAM
- Intel 915 graphics
- Dell Wireless (Broadcom 4318)
- Broadcom 10/100x
First of all, I've installed clean installation of Dapper in this Laptop. I got the Ethernet working right away. I used linuxant driverloader to load the driver for BCM4318; and finally I set up the WPA password using Network-Manager Gnome.
Everything worked flawless.
Here is the deal, as I said it was a Clean install so I proceeded to update the system. After evertything went ok, i restarted the system.
OMG, neither my ethernet nor Wi-fi were working.
So I did reinstall Dapper again and run the updates first and then load the wireless drivers. But Right after I reboot the system, my Ethernet didn't work again
If you got any suggestions please let me know. I thought about not updating the Kernel but I don't know if it will repercute on my laptop's security.
