hello

i am trying to get some videos of my holiday off my jvc video camcorders. it connects to the computer through a 4 pin to firewire cable. i used to do this with windows and a firewire internal card but since the computer got viruses i have got ubuntu on it now, but i dont know how to get it to work with kino. i am using a fresh ubuntu 8.10 install. i done the command:
sudo chmod 666 /dev/raw1394
and kino can access the raw1394 but now it says that there is no av/c. in dvgrab it says that no camera exists. any ideas how to get it to work?
