Determine User Rights to Table

I need to determine a users rights to a table.... right now, what I do is create an ADO recordset and try to READ the table to determine if the user has READ access to it or not.

I was wondering if there was a better way to this.

I need to know this when the user enters user id and pwd at the login screen to determine what tables I need to query.

The way it works is that if the user has access to a table that is say in Group A, then I need to target these Group A tables in my queries, else I need to target say Group B tables.

Users can only read Group A or Group B tables, but not both.

Any ideas are appreciated...
